Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol (Wat Bang Thong) stands as a significant temple complex situated in Ao Luek District of Krabi Province within Thailand. The Phra Mahathat Chedi stands as the tallest pagoda in southern Thailand at 95 meters tall and makes Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol a famous temple. The temple was built as a tribute to the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya India where Lord Buddha achieved enlightenment and it remains an important religious monument and architectural masterpiece.

The temple began its existence as Wat Bang Thong in 1940 until it received its current name Wat Maha That Wachiramongkol during a 2006 ceremony to celebrate King Rama X's 50th birthday. The temple complex showcases elaborate Thai architectural elements and colorful wall paintings and serene walkways which provide visitors with peaceful spiritual encounters.

The temple stands about 70 kilometers from Krabi town, on the way to Kho Sok, or Donsak Pier or Surat Thani and travelers can reach it by using Route 4. The temple grounds welcome visitors from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM each day with a 50 THB entrance fee for international visitors although Thai citizens can visit without charge.

The temple stands as one of the most visually appealing religious sites in southern Thailand. The temple's symmetrical design combined with its golden chedi and detailed architecture creates a beautiful setting for photographers. Temple staff and monks frequently assist visitors to get their ideal photographs which attracts both Instagram enthusiasts and photography enthusiasts to this location.
